GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
Accountable for the replenishment, issue, pick, distribution, storage and return of supplies and equipment. Delivers and stocks linen on units (Nampa). Utilize Supply Chain technology to maintain accurate inventory control. Deliver accurate and exceptional customer service via successful task completion and effective communication with customers. Drives Saint Alphonsus vehicles as required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Proficient in written and verbal English language.
3. Requires the knowledge and use of arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
4. Requires 6-12 months previous experience in any one, or combination of the following: Distribution, Warehousing, Shipping, Receiving, Logistics, Material handling, Customer Service, Inventory Control or other comparable service line.
5. Requires the use of Supply Chain technology solutions (e.g. bar code scanners, automated supply cabinets, and other expandable wireless products).
6. Basic computer and data entry skills with an emphasis on MS Word and Excel.
7. Requires the checking of reports, records and related data.
8. Good communication and customer service skills.
9. Knowledge of hospital supplies, equipment and medical terminology preferred, but not necessary.
10. Must currently possess or be able to obtain a current Idaho/Oregon Driver License.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Meets Saint Alphonsus Health System Guiding Behaviors, Caring Standards, and Customer Services Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
2. Performs count, picks orders, issues/distributes, delivers (and returns excess) supplies and equipment within Saint Alphonsus. Differentiates and fills STAT, ASAP and Routine supply requests as soon as received and delivers to requesting departments. Checks and fills specialty carts and boxes in a timely manner. Picks up empty supply carts on floors. Distributes and stocks clean linen on the units and picks up dirty linen and stages carts for laundry truck driver to pick up.
3. Answers phone calls from customers and inputs supply requests received via all forms of communication into the Materials Management Inventory System, and/or call log database. Credits and posts unnecessary or excess supply transactions into same system. Stages supply requests for fulfillment based on urgency of request.
4. Inventories and restocks supplies in ancillary locations with supplies from Storeroom inventory following department order/request.
5. Completes inventory replenishment process utilizing manual or automated technology. Follows established inventory re-order levels. Performs data transfers of inventory information to/from the docking station and hand held bar code scanner.
6. Pulls from bulk inventory items necessary to restock. Restocks shelves ensuring that inventory is correctly labeled, protecting the integrity of sterile supplies. Rotates stock in accordance with FIFO First-in, First-out protocol. Notifies supervisor of any shortages of supplies.
7. Generates charge labels, posts and reconciles patient charges ensuring timeliness and accuracy following established departmental procedures and best practices.
8. Organizes and files completed requisitions, pick tickets and other reports, records or related data.
9. Organizes and straightens inventory storage locations, breaks down and discards boxes; maintains the work area(s) in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
10. Checks for and pulls opened, damaged, expired and/or excess inventory and replaces unusable, damaged or dirty boxes/packaging, labels etc. Handles defective, damaged and/or expired inventory in accordance with established departmental policy.
11. Assists in the preparation, packaging, shipment and complete documentation of supplies and/or equipment for vendor returns.
12. Participates in taking physical inventories and/or cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory control.
13. Must maintain technical competencies of Inventory Management system as software is upgraded or new systems are installed to replace existing system.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
