Advisor / Retention Specialist (CAMP)

Treasure Valley Community College Treasure Valley Community College Ontario, OR Ontario, OR Full-time Full-time $41,200 a year $41,200 a year This position will provide academic and transfer advising, nonacademic support and career exploration to enhance the success and retention of all TVCC College Assistance Migrant Program (TVCC-CAMP Program) participants.
In addition, this position will assist the Director in developing individual action plans for each CAMP participant, in compiling and tracking of data and in preparing quarterly and yearly reports related to retention, graduation, transfer and baccalaureate attainment rates.
QUALIFICATIONS MANDATORY:
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling or related field.
Experience working collaboratively in a diverse team environment with students, faculty, staff and the community.
Two years of experience working in advising, academic planning and/or student retention strategies.
Two years of experience working with low income, underrepresented, and/or specifically migrant/seasonal farm working students.
Must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of migrant and seasonal farm workers.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in education, counseling or related field.
Prior experience working with federally funded programs (i.
e.
CAMP, HEP, TRIO, etc.
).
Prior experience working in a community college setting.
Prior experience working with students, families, and community partners in rural communities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide Academic Support:
Provide day to day and quarterly academic advising on general degree programs, specialized degree programs and academic course options.
Advise students on admission processes and procedures for enrollment at TVCC.
Assist in preparation of materials for orientation sessions, advising sessions and assist students in the transfer process depending on the program of study.
Follow up with advisees and students who are referred via the intervention tool to ensure that students attend classes and determine if students need assistance or other support services.
Serve as the cohort manager for the CAMP program.
Advise students on their placement scores related to selecting the appropriate class and assist with registration, scheduling and planning.
Develop and facilitate group presentations such as CAMP Fall Orientation, Financial Aid workshops, and other events which promote recruitment and retention.
Refer students to college resources as deemed appropriate (Tutor lab, Veterans Affairs, Financial Aid, Adult Basic Education, Disability Services and other student support services).
Identify and coordinate with local agencies and community social services support programs.
Oversight of Financial & Social Support:
Identify educational, leadership, and cultural experiences to help CAMP students expand in their breadth and depth of knowledge, in general, and in their chosen area of studies.
Develop and support student retention activities for CAMP students.
Help engage cohort students in campus life and attend appropriate events and activities that increase retention.
Coordinate and manage the TVCC-CAMP tutor program (i.
e.
tutor recruitment, scheduling, CAMP student designation, etc.
).
Coordinate and manage the TVCC-CAMP mentor program (i.
e.
mentor recruitment, scheduling, CAMP student designation, etc.
).
Research, develop and facilitate workshops/trainings on topics to include study skills, college and career planning, financial aid, scholarships, internships, financial literacy, resume development and transfer planning.
Maintain records, student data, and other documents related to advising cohorts, recruiting, retention and appropriate reports.
Maintain up to date knowledge of college policies, procedures, programs and articulation with other Oregon colleges and surrounding state/private colleges and universities.
Track student progress towards completion of degree and program requirements.
Attend professional growth training and/or conferences as budgeted.
Other duties as may be reasonably assigned to this position.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a full-time, Professional (grant funded), exempt position.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
